Stepping onto the Octane’s carpet…
We know that some journeys begin long before you turn the key.
They begin the moment we realise that true luxury no longer lies in speed, nor in power, nor even in exclusivity.
It lies in the way we choose to experience every kilometre.
It was precisely this philosophy that led us, in July 2024, to import this brand-new Range Rover D350 Autobiography Long Wheelbase for a customer who knew exactly what he was looking for.
Not just an SUV… but a benchmark…
Today it returns to Octane just over two years after purchase, in virtually the same condition as when it was delivered, and boasting a distinctive feature that is hard to miss… it is a seven-seater Long Wheelbase model, a car whose presence on the second-hand market is as rare as the investment required to buy it new.
There’s a curious detail about Range Rovers.
The higher up the range you go… the less need it feels to show it off.
Everything happens with a disconcerting naturalness.
The silence on board…
The quality of the materials…
The way the suspension makes the road surface disappear…
The driving position…
The feeling that the world is still out there… but no longer intrudes inside…
Then there’s the engine.
The D350 does exactly what you’d expect from a true Range Rover.
It never seems to be straining…
It never raises its voice…
It never demands the limelight…
It simply fulfils its mission with a serenity that is difficult to explain to anyone who has never driven one.
And perhaps that is precisely what sets this car apart from so many others.
It wasn’t built to impress onlookers…
It was built to win over those who experience it.
We’ll just give you one warning… once you’ve driven 500 kilometres behind the wheel of an Autobiography, you’ll start measuring all other journeys against this standard.
And that comparison rarely ends well for the rest!

Editor’s Note:
The seven-seater Autobiography Long Wheelbase version is an extremely rare configuration. Not only because of its price when new, but because it represents the pinnacle of what Range Rover does best.
In our opinion, it is one of those cars that is unlikely ever to be surpassed by anything better.
It may be more technologically advanced. It may be electric...
But the same? We have serious doubts...
